Humanitaire
2007 — 2026
Eighteen years of humanitarian expertise in Southeast Asia — from the field to transmission, from emergency to reconstruction.
Training for emergency
Already a DPLG architect and trained in earthquake-resistant design at Paris-La Villette, Yann Bacquet took the course “The Architect and Emergency” at Paris-Belleville. Two lessons stayed with him: a humanitarian mission is not a training ground, and teams need technicians as much as designers.
The first approach to a profession where the architect serves a context rather than a form.
Paris
Vietnam, immersion
Hanoi in 2010, then running the Saigon office in 2011. On a construction site, the encounter with the non-profit world and a first orphanage designed pro bono.
The start of a long familiarity with Southeast Asia — its commissions, its players, its ways of doing.

Field commitment
Nearly 490 days over two years, five countries — Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, India, Nepal. Orphanages, schools, centres, stilt houses, post-earthquake reconstruction in Nepal, vernacular housing of the highlands.
One hundred and twenty-three visits, nearly forty thousand photographs: a body of fieldwork, patiently documented, more than a line on a résumé.

Expertise and lucidity
From commitment a method is born. To distinguish the NGO from the association, to read the context before acting, to understand that the most fitting aid lies in expertise and transmission.
Some fifty feasibility studies and around seventy missions form the basis of a humanitarian expertise in its own right.
