The cities are real — Ruffec, Paris, Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Hanoi, Da Nang, Da Lat, Ta Lai — but the book is no guidebook: it follows an architect through his working environment.
After the anthropology of the city to come, it gives its sensitive version: attention, fatigue, solitude, humour, method and drift.
